Trader’s Corner: Time to Make Your Move

This is the time of year when you have learned enough about your team to know what your strengths and weaknesses are. You should be able to tell by now whether your team has a chance to win this year. If so, now is the time to make some aggressive moves to fix your flaws and make a run for the championship. If you are not going to win then now is the time to sell off your trading chips while there are still enough teams in contention to drive up the price for your players. If you wait too long the sellers’ market will quickly turn into a buyers’ market.

Lots of trades were sent in for us to vote on. Let’s get right to it. Vote for the group of players you would rather have.

Use the form just above the comments section at the bottom of the page to submit your trades for us to vote on next week.

The first trade was submitted from a 5×5 roto league with OBP instead of AVG:

Just traded my Yordano for Wil Myers. Thoughts? Also, would you trade Starlin Castro for Cole Hamels and Lance Lynn?

My bad, I meant Castro straight up for Hamels. Oops. My rotation is Scherzer, Strasburg……….Niese, Colome, and Masterson, so I kind of need some help. Thanks!

I like the Yordano Ventura for Wil Myers trade. I have not been a believer in Ventura. I wrote an article over the winter advising people to sell high on Ventura. So good job on that trade.

Castro for Hamels strikes me as a pretty even trade, although I would probably prefer to have Castro. Pitchers are risky and Hamels is unlikely to get many wins on a terrible Phillies team.

Dynasty 6 x 6 league, extra categories being OPS and holds
19 teams, 15 prospects per team

    Which side wins?

    (1) Josh Donaldson

    (2) Sergio Romo
    Prospect Brandon Drury
    Prospect Rio Ruiz
    Prospect Jeff Hoffman

    (3) Veto

Thanks for the submission Ed. I will put in the next Trader’s Corner.

I will say that allowing trade vetoes is a big mistake and the fastest way to destroy a league.

Bryant for McCutchen in a 7×7 dynasty league with the traditional 5 categories plus total bases and OBP. Who wins?

    • May 13, 2015 at 1:06 am

That is a classic win now or win later trade. It will be in the next Trader’s Corner.

6 team league, massive rosters and small bench. Start 22 hitters and 9 pitchers, 7 bench spots. I got offered Stanton for Correa, Buxton and Corey Seager. Anything to get Stanton, right? I’m relatively new to fantasy baseball, this is the second year of this dynasty league.

    • May 13, 2015 at 1:05 am

I can see either side of trade depending on the circumstances. Correa, Buxton and Seager are probably the best three players in the minor leagues right now. That is a LOT to give up in a trade, but Giancarlo Stanton might be worth it if you have a good chance of winning the championship this season.

20 team, h2h dynasty trade: Puig for Soria, Gose and Moustakas. Owner with Puig needs RP and is contending with Myers (RF), Cespedes (LF) and M.A Taylor/Ethier (CF) while Puig is out… Other owner is looking for cornerstone talent to build around… Who Wins?

      I’m taking the Puig side.
