The Dynasty Guru Annual Ranking Season is upon us!  Up next, second base!  The rankings presented here are the composite rankings of all the writers at The Dynasty Guru, and after healthy debate and only a little name-calling, we are ready to share them with you. The comments below each tier are the work of the writer cited at the end of the section.  Don’t forget to check out Chris and Drew’s analysis of each position on the Join the Ranks podcast.

1. Jazz Chisholm Jr (Age: 27)

Congratulations to the #1 ranked second baseman by the Dynasty Guru’s for 2026.  Jazz displayed a full season of 30 home runs and 30 stolen base capability.  I see no reason why he couldn’t do it again. Well….as long as he stays healthy. Let’s hope he does.

2. Ketel Marte (Age: 32)

At age thirty-two there’s an argument that can be made from him being at the top spot. “WATTS THE DEAL”?

Consistency. Let’s look at where he ranked in the following categories for Fantasy 2B.

2025          2024

R-3             R-3

HR-3           HR-1

RBI-11        RBI-1

BB-4           BB-3

AVG-9        AVG-3

Ketel is an excellent fit for your championship squad and great to trade off if you are rebuilding.

3. Brice Turang (Age: 26)

I understand why he’s here, but he’s also a player I’m avoiding. [Ed. note: linked article available after 1 p.m. 2/11/26]

4. Jackson Holliday (Age: 22)

I am a big fan of Holliday’s.  Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving etc., they’re all great. And for Jackson things are looking up. Is he going to be the big-time superstar that we all thought he was going to be? Hmm… probably not, but he’s still looking like a top 2B for years to come.

Jackson came up as an SS and had to learn to play 2B on the fly in 2024. The former #1 overall pick in 2022 came in with a 70 hit grade tool, 60 power and 60 speed yet struggled at the plate when he first came up in 2024. What changed for him in 25?

Holliday improved his chase %, squared up % and his overall approach in his first full season at 2B.  With his improved defense he looks the part to be Gunnar Henderson tag team party for a long time.  At Jackson’s peak, he looks to be a blend of Chisholm and Marte with several years of 20 HR/20 SB to his name.  Go acquire him while the manager that currently rosters him may be down on him.

5. Jordan Westburg (Age:26)

Another Oriole!  Let the Birds fly! Westburg is a big hit among the gurus.  This writer isn’t one of them. First, he’s not their second baseman unless something happens to Holliday.  Next season he should eligible only at 3rd base. Second, he can’t stay healthy for a full season.  3rd he reminds me too much of Brandon Lowe.  If Westburg get a full season of at bats, that’s essentially who he is.  At his peak, he’s peak Brandon Lowe, or at his lowest, he’s the low version of Brandon Lowe.  He’s a full pass for this writer.

6. JJ Wetherholt (Age: 23)

JJ Wetherholt, played his college ball at West Virginia, is naturally a shortstop but picked up 2B due to Maysn Winn having locked down shortstop for the Cards for the foreseeable future.  Thank you Maysn Winn!  JJ possesses almost everything you would want in a fantasy player.  He has so many tools that “Tim the Toolman Taylor” might come back to TV to reclaim his title.  Oh wait, did he?

Wetherholt scorched Triple-A Memphis last season. I project him to start at 2B this season. Nothing can hold him back.  “Wait Chris, I love this guy too.  But don’t you remember Jordan Walker?  He was supposed to be a 40 HR middle of the lineup bat and the Cardinals yinged yanged him around trying to change everything.  He hasn’t looked the same since”.  Yes, you are right.  Let’s hope the Cardinals don’t mess too much with such a good thing.  Wetherholt is my favorite to move to #1 on this list next season.

7. Luke Keaschall (Age:23)

Keaschall is one of my risers, as I wrote on Monday.

8. Ozzie Albies (Age: 29)

Can Ozzie get back to where he was in 2023?  Or will he make a blend of 2023 and 2025 seasons.  He may be out of the top 10 next season if he doesn’t at least blend the two seasons.

9. Jose Altuve (Age: 35)

The last of the big dogs. Altuve is a perennial all-star still rocking it out at age 35. The Astros decided to move him into the outfield for some wicked reasoning last season. Needless to say, he struggled at the plate. DUH! Did the Astros really think moving Altuve out of his second base post since he began playing in the majors in 2011 would go really well? Who decided that genius move??? Anyway, once he got back to 2B he picked things back up. If you looked at his statcast data you would think he’s no longer usable at the position. As he only rates out high in whiff% and K%. He managed to still hit .265 avg, 80 runs, and 26 home runs in a down year. In 2026 he will play the majority of his games at 2B where you need him to be. Look for him to repeat what he did last season with an uptick in batting average.  Someone tell the Astros to keep batting him leadoff where he’s spent most of his career.

10. Last but not least. Travis Bazzana (Age:23)

Travis Bazzana the #1 overall pick in the 2024 draft by Cleveland. Isn’t he supposed to be José Ramírez’s Matt to Nick Jackson?

He certainly is a Young Buck. While I don’t believe we will see many super kick parties from him, I do see a lot of tools to finish a BTE trigger. Bunts, Triples, and Endless puns. Back to baseball. Coming out of Oregon he set a Cleveland franchise record with 8.95 million dollar signing bonus. His batting eye is outstanding and he rarely makes bad decisions at the plate.

Bazzana has struggled to find his footing so far because of a rash of injuries. He’s set to start the season at Triple-A Columbus to get himself on track. Once he gets going expect him to finish the season as Cleveland’s long term 2B and become an ALL ELITE.

Bonus Picks for potentially being in the top 10 at 2B next season:

Lenyn Sosa, Chicago White Sox

Kristian Campbell, Boston Red Sox
