THE DYNASTY GURU’S 2025 TOP DYNASTY LEAGUE RELIEF PITCHERS, #11 – 30

They’re volatile, they’re frustrating, not always reliable but you have to keep them around.  Kind of like a youngest sibling. On the other hand, good relievers will help you maintain ratios and depending on your league settings, they have one or two categories that are all their own. So, like your youngest sibling, ignore them at your own risk. Our rankings are three year dynasty rankings for SVH league settings.

Today we present our #11 – 30 relievers!

This is a big group of relievers, and while none are top 10, it’s the group that I will be choosing from most likely. Most of the closers in this group have a tenuous grip on the job, at best; and our top set up men, the next in line for Saves guys, are the targets here. Tampa’s Pete Fairbanks, now 30, has two straight seasons of 23+ saves, but his ERA was a run higher and he struck out 24 less hitters in 2024 compared to 2023. Fairbanks is in the final year of a three-year deal, so he may stick as closer until he’s moved at the deadline.

Jeff Hoffman took a while to get his walks under control (that’s what pitching half his games for five seasons in Colorado will get ya). He has been stellar for the Phillies the last two seasons, compiling a 2.28 ERA, 0.94 WHIP with a stellar 12.0 strikeout rate and only 2.7 walk rate. Hoffman has the Blue Jays’ closer job to himself. Will father time catch up with Raisel Iglesias this season? He’s coming off his fifth 30+ save season of his career; the lowest strikeout rate of his career (8.83) though the second best walk rate (1.69). In a saves league, Raisel is still a top option; in Dynasty Saves and holds, he drops a bit; know your league type, as it were.

Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk are in the mix for saves in Arizona; Puk was legit in the desert once he arrived from Miami; in 27 innings, he had a 1.63 ERA, 14.2 strikeout rate, and only 1.65 walk rate. The lefty closer narrative is the only thing keeping him from the job outright. Martinez also had a high strikeout rate (11.27) and decent ERA, 2.48, but a really high 4.47 walk rate. He gave up only two home runs in 72 innings last year, so it would be foolish to expect that again.

Ben Joyce and Bryan Abreu are ranked as if they have the closers job already; Joyce may be the main man in the 9th sooner rather than later if Kenley Jensen isn’t up to the task. An injury to Josh Hader would vault Abreu into the top-10 easy. Fellow top setup men Griffin Jax, Yennier Cano, and Orion Kerkering all rack up Ks and limit walks, thus targets in all leagues; look for good ratios and possible saves down the line while adding holds today. Porter Hodge and Jeremiah Estrada are high strikeout guys who aren’t far off from getting those pesky walks under control and joining the others.

Tanner Scott was signed to be the closer for the Dodgers, and that should mean a lot of saves, but there is definitely competition, and if you’ve been reading thus far, walk and strikeout rates matter; Scott had a 2.70 walk rate during his breakout 2023…and his next lowest season (of his eight year career) was 4.35; lasty year, it was 4.50. Reds closer Alexis Díaz has the job for now, but his career walk rate of 4.80 and let down strikeout rate of 8.79 in 2024 makes me stay away. Padres closer Robert Suarez doesn’t walk many, but also doesn’t strikeout many, either; coming off a 36 save season in 2024, he should be safe as any reliever for 30ish saves in 2025, unless he’s traded, of course.
