If you’re reading this, you’re probably already familiar with our Top Ten Relief Pitchers — and you likely have your own strong opinions about them. That being said, nothing I say is likely to change your mind. So instead of offering conventional analysis you already know, I’ve decided to share some short but sweet tidbits you didn’t know you needed about each of our 2025 Top Ten Relief Pitchers.

Enjoy!

1. EMMANUEL CLASE

For those of you who have qualms in Clase being at our top spot: In his career, he has allowed an OPS under .500 against 1,200 hitters. To put that into perspective, no other pitcher in MLB history has allowed an OPS under .500 that’s faced at least 500 hitters!

2. MASON MILLER

Last season, Miller threw 510 pitches over 100 mph last season. That’s more than every other team in baseball combined.

3. DEVIN WILLIAMS

Not only was he the one to vanquish the Yankees facial hair policy. His .144 BAA (batting average against) is the best among relievers since 2020. He also has the second highest strikeout rate at 40.8% during that span. And this spring, to compliment his air bender he added 2+ inches of induced vertical break to his fastball.

4. JOSH HADER

In 2024, Hader threw his slider 328 times that netted the highest slider whiff rate at 60.2%.

5. RYAN HELSLEY

The Cardinals record last season was 83-79. They were 59-6 in the games that Helsely pitched.

6. EDWIN DIAZ

In the second half of 2024, Diaz finished with the highest K% among all relievers with 44.3%

7. ANDRES MUNOZ

None of his three primary pitches (slider, fastball, and sinker) had a BAA over .172, an xBA over .210, SLG% over .345, and an xSLG over .375 last season. (credit to @LouisAnalysis on X)

8. FELIX BAUTISTA

In 2023, Bautista’s fastball had a 123 tjStuff+ which was the highest ever recorded. To put that into context, Mason Miller’s fastball had a 118 tjStuff+ last season.  (credit to @TJStats on X)

9. JHOAN DURAN

Earlier this spring he became the first pitcher in MLB history to throw an off-speed pitch (splitter) at 100 mph.

10. RYAN WALKER

Finished with a 63.8% rate of getting a two-strike count against 308 batters. That was the second highest rate (against a minimum of 300 batters) to only Blake Snell (64.1%). (credit to Jon Anderson @JonPgh on X)
