The JTR 30: Overlooked Prospects in Each Organization, Chapter 1

It started as an idea for an early ranking-season podcast.

Join The Ranks Episode 38: The Overlooked Prospects became the most downloaded Join the Ranks podcast of the pre-season.  It’s clear you want to hear about prospects, and more than that, the prospects that people aren’t talking about yet.

So, in addition to our usual analysis and our “Sneaky Deeps” at the end of each podcast, we’re proud to bring you the JTR30 – Our choice for the most overlooked prospect in each organization.

Here’s how it works.  We each took one league (AL for Chris, NL for Drew) and identified one prospect from each organization who is rostered on less than 20% of Fantrax leagues.  Each month we’ll look at our lists, and anyone who moves over that 20% rostered level will be moved to our “We see you now” file and be replaced by a new overlooked prospect.  And honestly, sometimes that 20% limit feels too high, so if we see that there’s someone who isn’t quite yet at 20% but is getting a lot of notice, we’ll move on from that one as well so we can keep bringing you fresh names.

And, on the other side of that coin, we’d don’t get them all right, and if there’s a prospect that isn’t showing us positive development, we’ll move him to the “Move along, nothing to see here” list and identify a new name in that organization.  Players traded to another organization may or may not become the JTR30 of their new org, that’s up to the rankers to decide.

In addition to dropping a mini-podcast with our updates every four weeks, we’ll post a short article here with an updated chart so you can reference it at any time.  The chart lists which episode we first discussed the player in case you want to go back and listen to what we had to say.

Good luck, we hope this is helpful, and drop any comments below or hit us up on Twitter/X.
