TOP 200 DYNASTY BASKETBALL RANKINGS, APRIL 2017

A younger, more energetic version of me might have made this an April Fool’s post. Instead, it’s just a regular ‘ol ranking. This will be the last #Dynasty200 update of the season, but looking forward to an offseason of rookie ranks, Digging for Diamonds posts, FA value changers and then more #Dynasty200’s back with in depth comments for every player and tiers. Standard primer on these #Dynasty200 ranks for newcomers:

  • These are designed with 9-category, H2H leagues in mind.
  • If you play in a roto league, I recommend significantly fading the category ruiners, such as Dwight Howard.
  • If you play in an 8-category league, you can give a bump to volume guys with massive turnover problems such as James Harden and Westbrook.
  • I try to keep a healthy balance between present value and upside, but I tend to prefer sustainable periods of contention in dynasty instead of the “go-for-broke” style.

Thanks, great list. But… why Nurkic so low?

    • April 2, 2017 at 10:30 am

If I had more confidence he could sustain this PT into the future he’d be much higher. Bruising bigs have tantalized us with their efficiency all year (Jonas, Capela, etc.) but in modern NBA they can become 20 mpg guys.

Hi, thoughts on Chandler Parsons? Seems like he’s could be a solid comeback candidate. Apologies if I’ve missed earlier comments on him.

What are your thoughts on Taurean Prince? I thought he would be much higher with his blocks/stl/3pt profile and clear shot at starting next season.

    • April 5, 2017 at 2:05 pm

That’s really fair criticism, especially if he continues to get minutes the way he has of late. Thanks for calling that out.

I think you nailed it with the steals and blocks, because at 23 he’s obviously not old, but also not a ton of offensive development as compared to a typical rookie (e.g. D. Russell is 20 and a sophomore). I wouldn’t bat an eye if someone valued him as a top 100 asset because they are confident he’s a 30+ MPG wing with 2 combined blocks and steals per game.

Like a lot of other kids his shooting efficiency has really picked up in the 2nd half.

What about Jake Poeltl and Domantas Sabonis ? Where do you have them ranked? What do you think about their outlook for next year?

    • May 2, 2017 at 3:46 pm

Sabonis was brutal. Just not enough there to rank him, IMO. Poeltl belongs on this list heading into next year, but remember the Raptors never really committed to Jonas V who is basically what you hope Poeltl develops into, plus there’s Serge (granted a FA) and Lucas N. He’s having a nice playoffs, but is the upside there to look past the brutal depth chart? I don’t think so, which makes him a top 160-200 type, but no better for me.
