Minor League Ball Releases its Top 200 Prospects
The wise and powerful John Sickels released his top 200 prospect list earlier this week and it’s free for your eye balls. Andrew Benintendi claimed the top spot, followed by Yoan Moncada and Dansby Swanson.
It’s great content and it can help inform some of our fantasy decisions, plus provide a “follow” list for those of us in leagues that roster 150 or more prospects. It also serves as a reminder that dynasty prospect rankings are a very different beast than generic prospect rankings. For example, defense gets you on the field, but we don’t care as much about things such as throwing arms in dynasty baseball, do we? No, we do not. Brendan Rodgers (number 17 on Sickels’ list) could be as high as number one on a dynasty prospect list.
As such, we are making it a priority to not only add our own dynasty prospect list to the offseason consensus rankings (date TBD), but we’ll also go deeper than anyone else will. How does 250 sound to you? It sounds like a lot of work to us, but it’ll be worth it, because you’ll not only have the best in the business recommend kids for the here and now, but you’ll also have a list to reference as the season goes on to know if that kid off to a hot start was considered a real fantasy prospect in the spring or not.
So enjoy Sickels’ rankings and get excited for our own prospect ranks.
