Trader’s Corner: Introducing The Mookie Scale

If there’s one player you might be able to get the world for right now, it’s Mookie Betts. Not only has he gone bat guano crazy in the minors this year, but he’s recently started playing the outfield, which has caused fantasy owners to go bat guano crazy in anticipation of his arrival. I fired up my Rotowire app over the weekend, and there was Betts staring back at me as the 12th overall prospect in their rankings. Here’s a recent convo with fellow TDGX owner Mauricio Rubio Jr. about this very subject.

At Trader’s Corner (which will run Tuesday mornings from now on) we’d like to hear about your trades involving Mookie Betts. It’s interesting to see what his market value is right now in dynasty leagues. That’s what we mean when we say the “Mookie Scale”. Send us your other pending and completed trades as well to traderscornertdg@gmail.com. I’ll reply to every email that comes in and post the trades as a poll right here in the column. Here are this week’s trades…

Trade #1

12-teams, 25-man rosters, 1-catcher, keep 10, MiLB farm, keep for five years with $5 inflation

Trade #6 (this one comes to us from our own Andy Barnes)

20-team league 7×7 H2H (OBP/SLG & QS/HD). Salary and contract league with arbitration contracts for graduated prospects. Each year they could earn a $2 pay raise. Salary cap is $200 and max contract length is 4 year or 5 for the arb deals.
[polldaddy poll=8077968]

Trade #7

20 team, 20 keeper, farm rosters with a yearly prospect draft

[polldaddy poll=8077972]

Trade #8

20-team dynasty league 6 x 6 (OBP and WHIP added), 22 man rosters, $101M cap, using major league salaries, 8-man minors system, 4 re-signs a year.

I’m 6-0-1 and looking to win now. I dealt David Dahl (3 years control), Chris Colabello (2 years) and 200k for Adam Eaton (2 years) and a 4th Round Pick…

Dynasty 9×9 H2H Cats with doubles, triples, and OBP:
    Mookie Betts for Everth Cabrera

I dig it if it helps you win now. If you’re in full or partial rebuild mode though I think I’d prefer Betts.

Can I get your thoughts? Cabrera is ok but I’m not dying for a SS, and Betts sure does look nice right now…

If you don’t need eCab to win, I’d hold Betts

Hey Mike, i’m not sure you were around the last time a “Podcast For Your Eyes” piece was done on this site. Are you guys intending on making another one this year, they’re one of my favorite things TDG does as a site. As always, thanks for all the great work you are doing here.

I’ll have to pass that one along to Bret 🙂

I can take this one. As much as I enjoy doing the Podcast for your Eyes, we now have a podcast for your actual ears! It’s called There Is No Off-Season and it’s myself, Ben, Craig and Mauricio Rubio. We do it weekly for Baseball Prospectus and you should definitely check it out. Here’s a link to the page of links:

Big trade bewing. 14-team deep keeper. Would you move Jose Fernandez, Matt Adams and Arismendy Alcantara for Goldschmidt, Kipnis and Chris Archer?

      Yup. Great trade.
